Life begins anew as the march toward summer (and the desert!) begins. For those not familiar with the goings-on of my world and work, a quick introduction:
This summer, I will be toiling and filming (and blogging) in the Coachella Valley region of the Sonoran Desert as ecological research takes me all the way from Boulder, CO to the west coast. My 'esteemed' blog will be heavily focused not only on the research itself - banding, tagging, and being a general nuisance for the local California and Gambel Quail populations - but on the people involved in this process, the uniqueness of the landscape, and the wealth of natural beauty I (and our fearless leader David... more about him later) encounter along the way.
Hopefully this will be a mildly interesting exercise as opposed to a boring and technical one; I would hate to be one of those sticks in the mud found so often in the broader arena of "science" blogging. With that said, bear with me and I hope you enjoy what is to come!
